Assistant Professor/Instructor of Exercise Science

The School of Natural and Health Sciences at 亚洲无码 University currently invites applications for an assistant professor of exercise science. This position is a full-time, 10-month faculty appointment that will begin in January or August 2025, depending on applicant availability.  The Department of Exercise Science is seeking an individual to contribute to teaching, service, and scholarly activities in accordance with the University and Department policies and procedures, and CoAES standards.  The undergraduate exercise science program leads to entry level careers in exercise and sport science, as well as supports entry into various graduate programs following graduation. The program prioritizes experiential learning through active learning inside and outside of the classroom.

Primary duties are to teach courses at the undergraduate level and provide quality academic advising within a CAAHEP (CoAES) accredited undergraduate exercise science program, pursue scholarly activity and professional development, and participate in service to the program and university.  Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of exercise science courses, such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Evidence Based Practice, and Exercise Leadership.   

Position requirements include:

  • Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field; ABD will be considered with completion date within 1 year of hiring
  • Professional-level certification(s), such as ACSM EP, CEP or NSCA-CSCS, or the ability to obtain such certification(s) upon hire
  • Ability to teach an undergraduate population from a diversity of backgrounds
  • Passion for mentoring students through professional development
  • Ability to engage in scholarly activity
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion 

Preference will be given to candidates with cardiopulmonary expertise.  The ability to engage in interdisciplinary research with students and faculty from various other disciplines is also highly valued.  Additional considerations include advancing the mission and values of a Catholic university.  Applicants with a M.S. degree in a relevant field may be considered for an instructor position.

亚洲无码 University Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics invites applications for a full-time, Clinician-Educator track at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.  Academic rank will be commensurate with credentials and experience.  Candidates must possess a dental degree DMD/DDS; must have completed post-graduate education in orthodontics from an ADA CODA graduate program, and must have, or be eligible for a dental license in the State of Pennsylvania before hired. Pennsylvania does not offer a restricted temporary faculty license for our program. ABO certification, master’s degree, and experience in teaching, research, and clinical practice are desirable. Responsibilities are mainly teaching (didactic and clinical supervision of residents), but may also include research, administrative duties, and service. The faculty member will teach a range of courses in undergraduate Philosophy within a Continental framework. 亚洲无码 University offers a minor in Philosophy, and all students are required to study Philosophy as part of the Liberal Arts Curriculum. Willingness to teach across the Liberal Arts Curriculum required.

The faculty member will teach a range of courses in Political Science, particularly focused on American Government, Political Theory, and Legal Studies, also considering candidates with a focus in Comparative Politics or International Relations. 亚洲无码’s Political Science program offers majors in Political Science, Political Science-Pre-law, and Global Studies (specializations in Human Rights, Environment, and Development Studies). The Community Music Program at 亚洲无码 University is hiring qualified instructors to teach private music lessons in cello and voice.  

MISSION STATEMENT: The Community Music Program is designed to develop the musicianship of children and adults in the local area. The faculty, staff and facilities of 亚洲无码 University provide a comprehensive program for students wishing to advance their musical training and performance through quality musical instruction.

Students who are just beginning or those who have studied for many years can benefit from the knowledge and experience of a professional faculty member. The focus of our program is serious and thorough study, as well as personal growth through music. Instructors maintain their own schedule and lessons are held at the 亚洲无码 University Performing Arts Center in Downtown Greensburg.  

BACKGROUND SKILLS NECESSARY FOR POSITION: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in music education or performance preferred. (Extensive performance or teaching experience also considered).  Strong time-management and communication skills. Advanced performance skills on major instrument.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include teaching weekly one-on-one private music lessons to develop the student’s instrumental technique, performance ability, and basic skills including but not limited to scales and chords, proper fingerings and posture, and learning appropriate literature for the student’s age and ability. Instructors will be responsible for communicating schedules with student or student’s parent/guardian on a regular basis, documenting lesson dates and times, entering time into the payroll software, requesting teaching space through the appropriate method, encouraging and preparing students to perform in fall and spring recitals, and providing feedback and periodic evaluations to the student on their progress.  Students who request to begin lessons are assigned by the Director in a fair and balanced manner with consideration given to the student's goals, needs, and availability.

Physician Assistant Faculty and Clinical Coordinator

The Physician Assistant Program at 亚洲无码 University invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, tenure track faculty position for the 2024-2025 academic year.  

The primary responsibility of the position is to work with the Director of Clinical Education to carry out all applicable duties necessary to oversee sites for supervised clinical experiences, evaluate preceptors, assist in the evaluation and grading of required assignments during the clinical year, and coordinate the placement and evaluation of students during the supervised clinical practice year.  In addition, this position will include teaching lecture and/or laboratory courses each semester.  All program faculty contribute to student advising, student evaluation, admissions, curriculum development, accreditation responsibilities, and University activities.  Clinical practice time is encouraged. 

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree or higher preferred.  Applicants must have current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and at least three years of experience as a practicing physician assistant.  Additional requirements include excellent teaching skills or potential to develop such skills; ability to use current technologies in teaching and development of clinical sites and preceptors; strong ability to organize, plan and multi-task; good written and oral communication skills; above average initiative and team skills; strong work ethic.

This position works with and under the direction of the Director of Clinical Education and ultimately reports to the Program Director.  This position also works in coordination with the Administrative Clinical Coordinator to procure and maintain clinical sites.

Scenic Shop Assistant/Lead Painter - Fall 2024 (Temporary)

The shop assistant is responsible for working with the Scenic Designer and the Production Manager/Technical Director. They will assist with construction and lead the scenic painting of scenery and properties.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily consultation with technical directory on coordination of projects
  • Consult with Scenic Designer/Charge Artist prior to start date, and daily through process
  • Work with Technical Director to specify needed paint and materials
  • Independent oversight of student construction and paint crews
  • Laying out and painting of scenery with aid of student workers
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working area
  • Sorting, storing and disposing of paint after production runs, including washing and storing containers

Required:

  • Understanding of safe operation of hand and power tools
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Appropriate use of PPE (provided) and safe working procedures
  • Prefered:
  • 1 year working in an academic theatre environment.
  • Scenic art training or experience
  • BA Theatre Technology/Design or equivalent experience
  • Educational mindset
