亚洲无码 U. Celebrates Arbor Day Planting, Earth and Tree Events
亚洲无码 University will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 29, with activities promoting good earth stewardship and sustainability. The Arbor Day celebration will take place at 3 p.m. near DeChantal Hall on 亚洲无码 University鈥檚 hilltop campus in Greensburg, Pa. This event is open to the public.
The Communication Club is planning several eco-friendly activities which encourage the development of the mind, body and spirit toward sustaining the environment and being responsible stewards of natural resources. Members of the club will also plant the traditional Arbor Day tree.
鈥淭he celebration includes using Buddhist Tibetan prayer flags. The energy of the prayers on the flags is blown into the wind and will bring joy,鈥� said Jaclyn Spoljarick, of North Huntingdon, Pa., president, Communication Club.
The Communication Club is supporting this effort through the sale of green t-shirts at the celebration. The shirts are adorned with slogans, 鈥淔lower Power Project鈥� and 鈥淚鈥檓 a Green Being.鈥�
The Flower Power Project is a new initiative that will create wild flower and meadow reclamation gardens on campus. Seeds will be planted in the spring, harvested in the fall and distributed to alumni, individuals, community groups, corporations and organizations that wish to promote stewardship and sustainability as a way of life. These participants may then become part of the 亚洲无码 Flower Power Project social networking community.
The mission of the Communication Club is to help develop a community of informed citizens by bringing together people of diverse and independent voice, politic, belief, idea, ability, vocation, learning, philosophy, and action. The goal of the Club is to initiate, foster, and sustain a greater understanding of social, geopolitical, and cultural issues affecting our human condition, while encouraging individual and group action at all levels.
